We are living in perilous times! The scripture describes in I Timothy 3:1 that in the last days perilous times will come and lists the last day signs in the people. We are facing a world pandemic in the form of a coronavirus , but we are also facing a spiritual pandemic in the church from worldliness and lukewarmness! Who will be wise? Jesus mentioned being wise and foolish on several occasions. He told of the men that built their houses, one with a deep foundation on the rock and the other built on the sand. The wise man’s house withstood the storm but the foolish man’s house fell and great was the fall thereof. He then told how the wise were those that heard his sayings and did them and foolish those that heard his sayings and did them not. The difference between the builders one was wise and one was foolish. Will we be foolish and begin to flirt with the world and the things therein. Paul sadly described a young man ,Demas that had forsaken him having loved this present world. One doesn’t have to look very far to see people that once served God in sincerity and holiness now adapting to this world. They are cutting and dyeing their hair, wearing makeup and beards, mustaches and jewelry. They are going to movies and sporting events and seeking entertainment more than spiritual things. It’s no wonder that church services are being eliminated at an alarming rate .It is no longer deemed important enough to sacrifice the extra time for. Jesus said wheresoever a man’s treasure is there his heart will be also. Will we be wise and buck the trend toward worldliness and the “show” church? There was a day when Apostolic churches did not follow the trends of the worldly church. The worship of God and move of the Spirit was the most important elements in an Apostolic worship/song service. Now we have in many places fog machines, spot lights darkened sanctuaries and the atmosphere of a rock concert. Jesus also mentioned 10 virgins that were waiting on the bridegroom. 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. When looking at this we see they were all doing the same thing, waiting on the bridegroom. They all had the same goal of ushering in the bridegroom to the wedding celebration. The only thing that differentiated them was 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. The wise had oil in their vessels with their lamps and the foolish had lamps and no oil! They are slumbered and slept till the call was made at midnight the bridegroom cometh! They all began to stir and make assessment of their situation and the foolish realized their lamps were out and began to ask for oil from the wise. The wise trimmed their lamps in readiness for the bridegroom. The foolish had to scramble and try to get oil at the last minute and while they were trying to get it the bridegroom came. Those that were ready went in and the door was shut! The foolish arrived only to be told “I KNOW YOU NOT” Oil is a type of the Holy Ghost and prayer. I wonder how much prayer is really occurring in this age. When tragedy strikes yes but in normal situations? God help us to get back to the old paths wherein is the good way and walk therein and we will find rest for our souls. Who will be wise? It is our choice.
We are living in unprecedented times. With the advent of everything online, good and bad we see a different dynamic for families today. Values and morals are changing and seem to be in a downward flux. How can a families survive such a landscape of transgendering , sexting , pornography, legalized marijana, euthanasia and the like? It is called the old ship of Zion, the church of the living God! God’s word is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. The preached anointed word of God has an effect on all those that hear it. The church is the called out body of believers that is marching to the beat of a different drummer than the world. It is time to build your family’s foundation on the solid rock. Too many are suffering the heartache of building on the sand. The church offers the foundation that will survive the storm and provide a safe haven for all who will be doers of the word. Human reasoning, no matter how wise and well intentioned can never direct you through this maze called life and lead to an eternal habitation. You will receive support, direction and encouragement in the church. There are numerous promises to those who follow the Lord that give peace and satisfaction. The Bible says in Psalm 34:7 ”The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” What a wonderful promise to those with children when we cannot be with them 24/7. It is a wonderful promise to all in these days of danger. Let me say as Moses said to his father in law come thou with us and we will do thee good for the Lord has great things in store for the church!
¶ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Who were these wise men? How did they know from the star that is was the king of the Jews being born? Why did they deem it important enough to travel for almost two years to come and worship him and bring him treasures as gifts?
In 2017 the Lord is still calling for whosever will to come and follow him. How sad it is that there are those who start to follow the “star” and can not even stay on track for 2 weeks yet alone 2 years to just worship him. To those that know him Jesus is the king of kings and the Lord of Lords , the most important thing in all the universe. He is worthy to be praised and worshiped and be given our best. No matter the cost or distance they will stay on track to one day see him and cast their crown at his feet. Too many bring to Jesus nothing but rather desire the loaves and the fishes he offers. The wise men brought something with them all the distance they came to give the Lord. What they brought were not seconds or leftovers but the very best they had gold frankensence and myrrh ! Will we be wise and follow the wise men’s example of seeking the Lord till we find him? Will we be vocal about what we are seeking and trouble our cities as they did? Are we bringing our best to present to the Lord ? Are we worshipping the Lord when we are in his presence ? Will we be wise and take up our cross and deny ourselves and follow him in 2017? Let us consider these things this holiday season as things get very busy so we will not lose our focus.
Genesis 32:24-28 KJV And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Come and seek the face of the Lord and prevail in prayer as Jacob did. As someone aptly said much prayer much power ,little prayer little power ,no prayer no power! Prayer is the answer for us and our world, let us not just talk about prayer LET US PRAY!

Mark 10:17 KJV And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?…
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
This rich young ruler thought he had everything he needed to have eternal life. He came questioning Jesus with an assurance that all was well. But when the discourse was over he was walking away sad not committing to eternal riches but holding on to earthly treasures.
How true it rings of this generation,so eager to do and receive but not fully submitted to the one who knows their uprisings and down sittings. Just take a look at so many Facebook accounts. One minute they are issuing fresh water and the next … Suggestive pictures, filthy language, unregenerate unsanctified post quotes and airing of dirty laundry for all to see!
What these 21st century rich young rulers are saying is I want the benefits but I don’t want to pay the price, I love you Lord but only to a certain point. When push comes to shove their commitment is only to a point as well . Church attendance is usually the first casualty when prioritizing of time has to be done. They say the Lord knows their situation and when given time it will be straightened out. What they fail to realize there are people in the same situation and they are overcoming! They themselves however ,are only following him to a point. It is time to take inventory and see things as they really are. Peter thought he was going with his Lord the distance the night he was betrayed but with bitter tears realized he had only followed to a point. May we all be like the converted Peter ,following Jesus all the way the rest of his life and not to a point.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
If you we’re not there Sunday night or did not pick a day Sunday night ,please post on AtAchurch fire starters which day(s) you are fasting and praying. If you are a saint of God at AtAchurch you are required to participate in this Christian discipline for revival! If you cannot fast because of medical reasons you can still pray!
